Mindfulness for Lawyers
Justine Dunlap · University of Massachusetts Dartmouth
Lawyer and law student distress have been a not-so-well-kept secret for decades. Fortunately, law schools have begun to address this problem, rather than viewing it as a necessary or even honorable rite of passage. For instance, law schools have incorporated wellness opportunities. They have also de-emphasized the use and misuse of alcohol as a lubricant to help students ignore the stress and distress.

A Cognitive Perspective on Emotion
Mark Pettinelli · Northeastern University
Some things in life cause people to feel, these are called emotional reactions. Some things in life cause people to think, these are sometimes called logical or intellectual reactions. Thus life is divided between things that make you feel and things that make you think. The question is, if someone is feeling, does that mean that they are thinking less? It probably does. If part of your brain is being occupied by feeling, then it makes sense that you have less capacity for thought.

Crop Adaptation and Improvement for Drought-Prone Environments
Ndjido A. Kane, Daniel Foncéka, and Timothy J. Dalton · Kansas State University
This book focuses on three important elements in the development of cereal and legume crops in semi-arid West Africa. The first section illustrates the socioeconomic factors that affect the food system for these crops with an overview of crop production and consumption in the region. The second section addresses the state of the art of phenotyping and the modeling of crop adaptation to dryland farming systems. The third section investigates the genetic diversity and improvement of dryland crops.

An Inquiry-Based Approach to Abstract Algebra
Dana Ernst · Northern Arizona University
This free and open-source textbook is designed to used with an inquiry-based learning (IBL) approach to a first-semester undergraduate abstract algebra course. The textbook starts with groups (up to the First Isomorphism Theorem) and finishes with an introduction to rings (up to quotients by maximal and prime ideals). While the textbook covers many of the standard topics, the focus is on building intuition and emphasizes visualization.

Catalytic Asymmetric Synthesis
Tharmalingam Punniyamurthy · Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
Catalytic asymmetric synthesis the synthesis of compound that favors the formation of a specific enantiomer or diastereomer via catalysis synthetic methods. Enantioselective synthesis is a key process in modern chemistry and is particularly important in the field of pharmaceuticals, as the different enantiomers or diastereomers of a molecule often have different biological activity.

Waves: An Interactive Tutorial
Kyle Forinash and Wolfgang Christian · LibreTexts
This is a set of interactive tutorials designed to teach the fundamentals of wave dynamics. It starts with very simple wave properties and ends with an examination of nonlinear wave behavior. The emphasis here is on the properties of waves which are difficult to illustrate in a static textbook figure. The tutorial may be used in conjunction with a text or as a stand alone introduction to waves. Exposure to calculus and basic physics is assumed in the latter sections.
