Applied Probability
Paul Pfeiffer · Rice University
This is a "first course" in the sense that it presumes no previous course in probability. The mathematical prerequisites are ordinary calculus and the elements of matrix algebra. A few standard series and integrals are used, and double integrals are evaluated as iterated integrals. The reader who can evaluate simple integrals can learn quickly from the examples how to deal with the iterated integrals used in the theory of expectation and conditional expectation.

BCHM 355/455: Biochemistry
Neil Voss · Roosevelt University
Biochemical processes sustain life by driving molecular interactions, enzyme activity, and metabolic pathways. Water chemistry, amino acids, and protein structure determine biological function, while enzyme catalysis and thermodynamics regulate energy flow. Metabolic pathways and allosteric control maintain cellular balance.

Riemann-Stieltjes Integration on Time Scales
Svetlin G. Georgiev · Sorbonne University
S. Hilger introduced in 1990 the calculus on time scales or on measure chains. This kind of calculus showed the possibility to manage dynamic equations considering a very wide range of time scales transforming in this way the differential and difference calculus into special cases of a more general one. Examples of time scales are the real numbers, the integers, the sets having cluster points or even such as the Cantor set. In this cycle we study the process of Riemann-Stieltjes delta integrati

Tort Law: A 21st-Century Approach
Zahr K. Said · University of Washington
The purposes of tort law have expanded over the centuries of its evolution. In its earliest forms in England in the 12th century, tort claims provided a means of ordering civil society and keeping the peace. By defining certain conduct as wrongful and enabling a means of redress for harms caused by deviations from that standard, tort law reflected and helped shape social behavior and expectations.
