Essentials of Oceanography
Eliza Richardson · Pennsylvania State University
This text introduces knowledge and broadens understanding of the oceans and their role in climate, coastal processes, and life within the fluid Earth. Students will gain insight into the physical and chemical processes that determine properties of the ocean and govern interactions between the ocean, atmosphere, groundwater, and the fluid/solid Earth. Topics will reinforce fundamental scientific principles.

GEL 116: Oceanography
Tessa Hill · University of California, Davis
Oceanography is the branch of Earth science that studies the ocean and covers a wide range of topics, including marine organisms and ecosystem dynamics; ocean currents, waves, and geophysical fluid dynamics; plate tectonics and the geology of the sea floor; and fluxes of various chemical substances and physical properties within the ocean and across its boundaries.

Oceans of Data
Tasha Gownaris · Gettysburg College
This introductory oceanography book explores the oceans as interconnected geological, chemical, physical, and biological systems. Topics include plate tectonics, ocean sediments, seawater properties, climate and circulation, carbon cycling, ocean acidification, El Niño, and marine productivity, showing how ocean processes shape Earth’s climate, ecosystems, and environment.

Coastal Dynamics
Judith Bosboom & Marcel J.F. Stive · Delft University of Technology
This textbook focuses on the interrelation between physical wave, flow and sediment transport phenomena and the resulting morphodynamics of a wide variety of coastal systems. It is unique in that it explicitly connects the dynamics of open coasts and tidal basins; not only is the interaction between open coasts and tidal basins of basic importance for the evolution of most coastal systems, but describing the similarities between their physical processes is highly instructive as well.
