Time Dependent Quantum Mechanics and Spectroscopy 2025e

Andrei Tokmakoff · University of Chicago

This book is meant as a resource for those that study quantum mechanics, dynamics, and spectroscopy of molecular systems. It's written with chemists in mind: people whose view of the world is formed in the language of atoms and molecules. It is also meant as a reference for practitioners in the field who may be familiar with the topic but perhaps not the molecular perspective. This edition adds considerable new material to the 2014 edition as well as extensive editing to the whole book.

MTH 65: Algebra 2

Math Department · Clackamas Community College

TThis book builds a strong algebra foundation. You’ll review core skills like order of operations, fractions, and linear equations, then expand into polynomials, exponents, roots, and radicals. Finally, you’ll explore absolute value to model distance, tolerance, and precision. These connected skills form a toolkit to solve problems confidently and prepare you for advanced math and real-world applications.

MATH 1200: Calculus for Scientists I

Pamini Thangarajah · Mount Royal University

This course provides an introduction to calculus with exposure to applications in sciences. The main concepts covered are limits, derivatives, and integrals. Derivatives of transcendental functions are used to solve optimization, linear approximation, and related rates problems. Studying calculus will expose students to a variety of important mathematical ideas and help students develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Thermodynamics and Chemical Equilibrium

Paul Ellgen · Oklahoma School of Science Mathematics

Physical chemistry encompasses a wide variety of ideas that are intimately linked. For the most part, we cannot understand one without having some understanding of many others. We overcome this problem by looking at the same idea from a series of slightly different and increasingly sophisticated perspectives. This book focuses on the theories of physical chemistry that describe and make predictions about chemical equilibrium.

Organic Chemistry with a Biological Emphasis

Tim Soderberg · University of Minnesota Morris

In this online textbook, a unique approach is taken to the study of organic chemistry. To the greatest extent possible, biological molecules and biochemical reactions are used to explain and illustrate the central concepts of organic chemistry. This approach covers the main organic reaction mechanisms in a biological context. However, earlier chapters on organic structure and spectroscopy also focus as much as possible on examples of interest to students of biology and the health sciences.

Radically Modern Introductory Physics Text I

Radically Modern Introductory Physics Text I

David J. Raymond · New Mexico Tech

The idea for a “radically modern” introductory physics course arose out of frustration with the standard two-semester treatment of the subject. It is basically impossible to incorporate a significant amount of “modern physics” (meaning post-19th century!) in that format. The authors feel that an introductory physics course for non-majors should make an attempt to cover the great accomplishments of physics in the 20th century, since they form such an important part of our scientific culture.

Microbiology

Linda Bruslind · Oregon State University

What is microbiology? If we break the word down it translates to “the study of small life,” where the small life refers to microorganisms or microbes. But who are the microbes? And how small are they? Generally microbes can be divided into two categories: the cellular microbes and the acellular microbes. In this textbook the focus will be on the bacteria and archaea (traditionally known as the “prokaryotes,”) and the viruses and other acellular agents.
