Comparative Vertebrate and Human Anatomy: Ecology, Evolution, and Function
Vanessa Hilliard; Lisa Whitenack; Bill Ryerson; Amy Cheu · PALNI · 2025
This book provides an ecology- and function-oriented approach to understanding the evolution of vertebrate structure. The text has a modular format, such that each module can be used as a stand-alone instructional tool, or grouped together as a comprehensive textbook, making the text versatile for use in courses with diverse structures. The text also includes human-specific modules for each anatomical system, as many small, liberal arts colleges teach comparative and human anatomy in a single course. Detailed, human-specific modules may be added or removed, as needed for individual courses, depending on the scope and learning objectives of the class.

Quantitative Ecology: A New Unified Approach
Clarence Lehman; Shelby Loberg; Adam Clark · University of Minnesota Libraries Publishing · 2019
Quantitative Ecology introduces and discusses the principles of ecology from populations to ecosystems including human populations, disease, exotic organisms, habitat fragmentation, biodiversity and global dynamics. The book also reformulates and unifies ecological equations making them more accessible to the reader and easier to teach.

MPC Environmental Science
Kevin Raskoff · Monterey Peninsula College
This course is a survey of the fundamental political, economic, and ecological principles that define the important environmental issues of our time. Topics include ecology, climate change, biodiversity, energy, and sustainability.

Biodiversity
Nora Bynum · Duke University
This collection provides an overview of what is meant by the term ‘biodiversity,’ and how we measure it. The collection reviews the different levels of biodiversity, or the ‘biodiversity hierarchy’ including: genetic and phenotypic diversity; population diversity; species diversity; community diversity; ecosystem diversity; landscape diversity; and historical and ecological biogeographic diversity.

Experiences in Biodiversity Research: A Field Course
Thea B. Gessler · Iowa State University
This short handbook was developed to support the course, Experiences in Biodiversity Research, which provides early undergraduates with experience in the practice of biodiversity research and demystifies the path to careers in this field. Tips for educators running a similar field research-based course are provided, with a focus on adapting the curriculum for your local context and students' needs.

AP Environmental Science
LibreTexts
This text is designed to acquaint students with the physical, ecological, social, and political principles of environmental science. Scientific method is used to analyze and understand the interrelationships between humans and the natural environment. This test shows how ecological realities and the material desire of humans often clash, leading to environmental degradation and pollution.
