Organic Chemistry III

Layne Morsch et al. · LibreTexts

The study of organic reactions includes the chemical synthesis of natural products, drugs, and polymers, and study of individual organic molecules in the laboratory and via theoretical (in silico) study. This is a textbook map of the chapters 25-30 of McMurry's "Organic Chemistry" textbook; it is not a copy of the original textbook, but is an original construction or remix of comparable OER content on LibreTexts to recreate its organization.

Global Femicide: Indigenous Women and Girls Torn from Our Midst

Brenda Anderson, Shauneen Pete, Wendee Kubik, and Mary Rucklos-Hampton · University of Regina

This book underscores the common, interlocking effects of racism and sexism on Indigenous women. Family members, scholars and researchers, artists, activists and policy-makers provide their decade-long perspectives, providing testimony and evidence that sexualized and racialized violence is not only a product of historic colonization but continues to manifest in entrenched systems of colonization and global femicide. The analysis and the heart of all the authors is generously shared.

Scholarly Communication Librarianship and Open Knowledge

Maria Bonn; Josh Bolick; Will Cross · Association of College and Research Libraries · 2023

The intersection of scholarly communication librarianship and open education offers a unique opportunity to expand knowledge of scholarly communication topics in both education and practice. Open resources can address the gap in teaching timely and critical scholarly communication topics—copyright in teaching and research environments, academic publishing, emerging modes of scholarship, impact measurement—while increasing access to resources and equitable participation in education and scholarly communication. Scholarly Communication Librarianship and Open Knowledge is an open textbook and practitioner’s guide that collects theory, practice, and case studies from nearly 80 experts in scholarly communication and open education. Divided into three parts: What is Scholarly Communication? Scholarly Communication and Open Culture Voices from the Field: Perspectives, Intersections, and Case Studies The book delves into the economic, social, policy, and legal aspects of scholarly communication as well as open access, open data, open education, and open science and infrastructure. Practitioners provide insight into the relationship between university presses and academic libraries, defining collection development as operational scholarly communication, and promotion and tenure and the challenge for open access.

The Exciting Dynamics of State and Local Government

Laura Wilson; Gregort Schufeldt · PALNI · 2025

This book provides readers with both a large-scale overview of state government (including its responsibilities and rights established through federalism, political institutions such as the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, and political behavior such as voting, interest groups, and the media) in addition to guiding individual examinations of states through case studies incorporated in each chapter. The text gives readers a greater understanding of the role and responsibilities of state and local government. Utilizing state comparisons and highlights, in content included in both the chapters and the accompanying case studies, readers delve into the intricate world of comparative government while analyzing the differences and similarities, as well as the reasons for them, between and among states.
